We offer both acupuncture and dry needling at On Path Physio.
Acupuncture is a traditional healing practice that involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote healing. It is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which believes that energy (or “Qi”) flows through pathways in the body called meridians. Disruptions in this flow are thought to contribute to illness or pain, and acupuncture aims to restore balance and promote the body’s natural healing abilities.
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique to relieve muscle pain, tightness, and dysfunction. It involves inserting very thin, solid needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into trigger points or tight bands within the muscles often called “knots” to release tension and improve movement.
At your initial treatment session, the On Path physiotherapist specialising in acupuncture and/or dry needling will discuss your health history, current symptoms and treatment goals. The therapist will then conduct a thorough assessment to determine the most appropriate and safe form of treatment for you.
Acupuncture and dry needling are used to treat and manage:
- Muscle strains and spasms
- Chronic back or neck pain
- Headaches (including tension-type)
- Tendinopathies (like tennis elbow or Achilles tendinitis)
- Stress reduction and improved emotional well-being
- Enhancing sleep, energy levels, and overall balance
